Scuba Diving Certification

All of our boat dives take advantage of the fast, comfortable ride of our HRIB (Hard Rigid Inflatable Boat), which leaves from the conveniently located Mala Wharf, in Lahaina, Maui. In addition, we offer top-of-the-line scuba diving equipment for all our guests. We are proud to carry quality Sea-Quest weight integrated men’s and woman’s BC's, as well as Sunnto dive computers and Aqualung regulators. Full-length quality wet suits, boots and split fins are all available for our guests for the ultimate in scuba diving pleasure and comfort. Nitrox is available from our Nitrox Technologies Membrane system, and we encourage our divers to dive nitrox. Padi and SDI nitrox courses are available for our guests not yet nitrox certified.

The coral reef sites we dive boast a staggering wealth of marine life, and Hawaii's clear blue water offers some of the best underwater visibility in the world. On any given day we might see spinner dolphins, giant sea turtles, moray eels, butterflyfish, angelfish, parrotfish, mantas, crabs, sea cucumbers, octopus, and much more. During the winter months, we see humpback whales from the boat nearly every day as they frolic with their young offspring in the shallow waters between Maui and Lanai.

Lanai Dive Boat "Hoku"

Lanai Dive Boat "Hoku"

Hoku is a 11.3 meter (37’1”) Naiad built in Rhode Island, we took delivery of her May of 2009 and she is powered with twin 250hp Mercury 4 stroke Verado engines. The boat was custom built with my own design for the tank storage and seating on the boat and the rear entry ladders and dive doors with the opening in the transom.

Great dive on January 1st. Steve is awesome, Steve the deck hand fantastic and Brian dive master for my group superb. The dives were awesome, gear was great, lunch of sandwiches very very good. I dove in a 5mil on this 2 tank trip and was very very comfortable. Highly recommend this dive group.

Mahalo to Capt. Steve and crew. We had a great dive! Hopefully we will have the opportunity to go again. The boat ride was comfortable, the dive site was beautiful. Amazing corral, fish, eels, and octopus. Our gear was a perfect fit. We highly recommend diving with Hawaiian Rafting Adventures. Aloha, Cortney and Brenda

To be honest I was a little nervous about diving wuth this over sized raft boat. But it was one of the fastest and smoothest boats I have ever been on. What I liked the most was all the room, most dive boat are pretty crowded we had 13 divers and it felt empty. Steve the dive master showed us all kinds of strange fish and takes the best picture I have seen on a diving trip. For lunch they gave us a sandwhich, chips, fruit and soda. Not just a small snack it was the best lunch I have had on a dive boat. I will dive with them again instead of the #1 rated dive shop down the road which I have dove with in the past. This might be a little hole in the wall dive shop but you get the biggest bang for your buck!

I have been diving on Maui, two or three trips each year, for 10 years and it took this long for me to stumble across Captain Steve and his team. Are they the biggest dive company on the island? Not by a long shot! Do they have the biggest boats with the most amenities? No way!

What I have found out is that Captain Steve and his team are more knowledgeable about their dive sites, give you more bang for your buck than the "so called big guys". On one dive during September 2010 I saw more endemic species than I have ever seen during any four dives anywhere else.

If you are a serious diver, or not, like to take photos underwater as I do and want a truly enjoyable experience that is not a cattle call, this is the place to get all of that and more. For West Maui, Captain Steve is my #1 choice forever more!!!
